Ankunft in Sevilla und Pilgerpass<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sevilla ist ein absoluter Traum. Nicht nur die Oper Carmen<\/em> spielt hier \u2013 hier spielt auch das Leben mit all seiner Fr\u00f6hlichkeit. Die Stimmung ist gut, die Stra\u00dfen sind voll und bunt. Ich sch\u00fcttle die M\u00fcdigkeit der Anreise ab und streife durch die Stra\u00dfen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Es gibt noch eine wichtige Sache zu erledigen: Ich brauche einen Pilgerpass, denn ich bin meinem eigenen Rat nicht gefolgt und habe keinen im Voraus besorgt. Das Wochenende beginnt, und die offiziellen kirchlichen Stellen \u2013 wie die beim Bischofssitz \u2013 haben bereits geschlossen. Gl\u00fccklicherweise habe ich Erfolg beim Hotel Sim\u00f3n neben der Kathedrale (Garc\u00eda de Vinuesa 19, Google Maps-Link<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ich empfehle, sich f\u00fcr Sevilla mindestens einen Tag Zeit zu nehmen. Die Stadt hat mit ihren G\u00e4rten, der Kathedrale und zahlreichen Restaurants viel zu bieten. Auch die Plaza de Espa\u00f1a<\/em>, Star-Wars-Kennern bekannt, ist ein absolutes Muss. Hier kann man zudem im Schatten ein ruhiges Pl\u00e4tzchen finden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Sevilla kann man noch alles kaufen, was man vergessen hat oder nicht transportieren wollte oder konnte. Ich habe mir hier noch Trekkingst\u00f6cke besorgt \u2013 sie sollen verhindern, dass sich das Blut in den H\u00e4nden staut und diese anschwellen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aufbruch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Es ist noch dunkel drau\u00dfen. Das Herz schl\u00e4gt wie ein Hammer auf den Amboss. Im Zimmer des Sevillaner Hostels sind noch eine junge Spanierin und zwei junge Italiener. Letztere sehr freundlich, aber auch noch leicht betrunken. Das Am\u00fcsieren und der Hunger junger Menschen in der Gro\u00dfstadt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ich kann es kaum noch abwarten. An Schlaf ist nicht mehr zu denken. Der Rucksack ist fertig gepackt und unter das Bett geklemmt. Ich schleiche ins Bad. Geduscht habe ich \u2013 wie beim Pilgern \u00fcblich \u2013 am Abend zuvor. Z\u00e4hneputzen, Wasserflaschen auff\u00fcllen, noch einmal zur Toilette. Dann scheppert der Schl\u00fcssel im Briefkasten des Hostels, und ich ziehe die T\u00fcr hinter mir zu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ich stehe auf einem kleinen Platz in der Hauptstadt Andalusiens und mache mich auf den Weg zur Kathedrale. Hier liegt nicht nur Christoph Kolumbus begraben, sondern auch der Stein, der den Beginn der Route markiert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mein Plan: Heute bis Guillena zu kommen. Der erste Tag ist immer der schlimmste. Es ist Ende April, und die Sonne in S\u00fcdspanien brennt. Die F\u00fc\u00dfe schmerzen, da sie noch nicht daran gew\u00f6hnt sind, wieder so viel zu gehen. Zudem merke ich, dass ich einige Pfunde mehr mit mir herumschleppe als sonst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Der Weg ist anfangs ziemlich verm\u00fcllt und wenig sch\u00f6n. Es ist das typische Bild, wenn man den \u00dcbergang von einer gro\u00dfen Stadt in den l\u00e4ndlichen Bereich wagt: Stra\u00dfen, Br\u00fccken, Stromleitungen und viel illegal entsorgter M\u00fcll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Santiponce sieht die Welt allerdings schon wieder ganz anders aus. Hier waren die R\u00f6mer! Au\u00dferdem gibt es hier ein charmantes Kloster. Ich empfehle, eine kurze Pause einzulegen \u2013 die G\u00e4rten und die Ruhe, kombiniert mit einem Kaffee, haben meinen Startschwierigkeiten gut entgegengewirkt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ich habe Gl\u00fcck mit meiner Herberge und kann direkt eine Handw\u00e4sche machen und die F\u00fc\u00dfe auf einer gem\u00fctlichen Dachterrasse ausstrecken. Am Ende des Tages wei\u00df man nicht so recht: Schl\u00e4ft man wie ein Stein oder kaum, weil alles noch so ungewohnt ist?
Das wird sich in den n\u00e4chsten Tagen \u00e4ndern \u2013 dessen bin ich mir sicher.
Dass viele der Gesichter, die ich heute zum ersten Mal gesehen habe, bald zu wunderbaren Freunden werden, ahne ich da noch nicht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arrival in Seville and Pilgrim Passport<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Seville is an absolute dream. Not only is the opera Carmen<\/em> set here \u2013 life itself also plays out in full joy. The atmosphere is great, the streets are lively and colorful. I shake off the fatigue from my journey and wander through the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s still one important thing to take care of: I need a pilgrim passport. I didn\u2019t follow my own advice and forgot to get one in advance. The weekend is starting, and the official church offices \u2013 like the one at the bishop\u2019s seat \u2013 are already closed. Luckily, I have success at Hotel Sim\u00f3n next to the cathedral (Garc\u00eda de Vinuesa 19,
Google Maps link<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I recommend setting aside at least one day for Seville. With its gardens, cathedral, and countless restaurants, the city has a lot to offer. The Plaza de Espa\u00f1a<\/em> \u2013 familiar to Star Wars fans \u2013 is an absolute must. You can even find a quiet, shady spot to relax there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seville is also a good place to buy anything you forgot or didn\u2019t want or couldn\u2019t manage to carry. I picked up some trekking poles here \u2013 they\u2019re meant to help prevent blood from pooling in your hands and causing them to swell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Departure<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s still dark outside. My heart is pounding like a hammer on an anvil. In the room of the Sevillian hostel are a young Spanish woman and two young Italians. The latter are very friendly, but also still terribly drunk. The joy and hunger of young people in the big city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can hardly wait any longer. Sleep is out of the question. My backpack is packed and stowed under the bed. I sneak into the bathroom. I already showered \u2013 as is customary on pilgrimage \u2013 the night before. Brush teeth, fill water bottles, one last trip to the toilet. Then the key clinks into the hostel\u2019s mailbox, and I pull the door shut behind me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m standing on a small square in the capital of Andalusia, heading for the cathedral. Here lies not only Christopher Columbus but also the stone that marks the beginning of the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plan: to reach Guillena today. The first day is always the hardest. It\u2019s late April, and the Andalusian sun is blazing. My feet hurt \u2013 they\u2019re not used to this much walking yet. I also notice I\u2019m carrying a few extra pounds compared to usual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The path at first is pretty trashed and not particularly scenic. It\u2019s the usual image when transitioning from a big city to the countryside: roads, bridges, power lines, and a lot of illegally dumped garbage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Santiponce, the world already looks very different. The Romans were here! There’s also a charming monastery. I recommend taking a short break here \u2013 the gardens and the quiet, combined with a cup of coffee, helped me get past my early struggles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m lucky with my hostel and can immediately do a bit of hand-washing and stretch out my feet on a cozy rooftop terrace. At the end of the day, you’re not quite sure \u2013 will you sleep like a rock or barely at all because everything still feels unfamiliar?
That will change in the coming days \u2013 of that I\u2019m sure.
That many of the faces I saw today for the first time will soon become wonderful friends? I have no idea yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
